“Literally dying”

In the words of the oh so wise Rachel Zoe, I was “literally dying” when I first came across the 2014 Resort Collection.

3.1 Philip Lim brought the color camel back, kind of like bringing sexy back but desert style. The oversized fit of the dress, shorts, and double breasted coat blew my mind. I thought the patchwork and the leather accents were the absolute perfect touches.

In a different light, Acne’s rich colors brought a whole other mood and feel to resort wear, but the patchwork and the larger fit were present, similar to 3.1 Philip Lim and many other collections. The shoes coordinating with the outfit redefined the rules of something being “too matchy matchy”.

Balenciaga’s collection was feminine and each look consisted of the classic black and white. They were styled with minimal accessories, like thin gold chain necklaces, bracelets, earrings and “anklets”. The detail of the this collection was impeccable, and the enlarged sleeves and fringed hats were the cherry on top for me. Alexander Wang’s collection for both Balenciaga and Alexander Wang were my most beloved for this oh so fabulous resort season.

I really could go on for hours like this but I will end on the Alexander Wang’s collection. His suprisingly colorful pieces were infused with pops of pink and even a dark green sweater, while still staying true to his roots of shades of grey. This collection was sporty and on the shorter side, and pretty boxy. I am madly in love with the leather pieces, especially the pleated camel skirt paired with the sparkly deep green sweater, a white structured bag and stark white loafers. This gives me the chills just typing about it….

Get Rompering

Is that a word? Rompering? It just rolls off of your tongue…R-O-M-P-E-R-I-N-G. It sounds like it should be one, but the word is underlined red, which unfortunately leads me to the conclusion that it is not.

Anyways, whether or not it is a verb, these days I’m all about the rompers. No more worrying about whether the wind will hit your summer dress the wrong way, or contemplating if you should wear bike shorts underneath for the extra security. They are playful and fun and can be worn for pretty much any occasion, depending on the style and what you wear it with of course. They are very easy to dress down with a pair of flat sandals or white Supergas and minimal accessories, or swap the sandals for a pair of heels with a high bun and a pair of large gold hoops (depending on the romper it may vary).

So take full advantage of the summer and invest in a romper or two. There are plenty out there, so explore your inner romper side. NastyGal and Top Shop have a few that are pretty insane if your looking for ideas to jump start your splurge…

It Is Going Cray Cray

All throughout this last school year (yes my last day is tomorrow!) I have been fighting my hair to say the least. My day would start at 6:20 a.m. when I would wake up from “Call Me Maybe” and then quickly jump in the shower, hoping to leave myself enough time to blow dry, straighten, get dressed (which always takes the longest) and eat breakfast by 7:25 when my bus arrived. If there were any curly parts…they had to go.

Normally my hair is pretty crazy when it first dries and then it’s pretty unpredictable from there. It can get even more crazier or can go flat…I craved the straight hair that I wanted but never had naturally. Trying all of these products throughout the years, including one that would actually straighten my hair, minus the iron and blow drier, I have come to the conclusion that it’s going free. Yup, this (thin) mane on my head is going to be cray cray from now on. Kind of like the perfect piece of chocolate that makes your mind go cray cray. Kind of like the work that I have had the last few weeks that have been absolutely cray cray…sorry for being absent during those days of struggling.

I was in Brandy Melville a couple of weeks ago with my mom and sister and was extremely tempted to purchase a sign that simply read, “DAT S**T CRAY”. But then I thought long and hard and my dad would literally kill me…so I guess this new found freedom definitely has some limits. How far are you willing to go?

Enjoy your first few days of summer!

It IS oN liKe DoNKey KOnG…

I don’t know if any of you got the e-mail this morning, but I sure did. The e-mail that caused me to blast “I’m Walking On Sunshine” on the bus on my way to school. The e-mail that gave me the feeling that my day was not going to be just a good one but a great one. The e-mail that read “SALE NOW ON”. If you haven’t guessed yet…yes I am talking about Net-A-Porter Season Sale that is so “on” right now. The pieces above are just a few that I fancy. Enjoy enjoy enjoy!

SIMPLE YET BOLD

Salty yet sweet, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. In today’s society opposites attract in all lights, such as relationships, food and even jewelry. When carefully scrolling through my various e-mails today while home sick I came across Moda Operandi’s e-mail, featuring Jennifer Fisher’s jewelry line, and to be quite honest it is pretty incredible. Like absolutely insane. The Arrow Ring and Pulse Bar Ring happen to be my two personal favorite. I mean who wouldn’t want three arrows in different directions on your pointer finger, or a pulse bar on your thumb? As my dad usually sings/quotes John Fogerty in long car rides, “put me in coach…I’m ready to play!!”…and in this case…I’m ready to stack all of my fingers and wrists in Jennifer Fisher’s jewelry.

Why not wear a back vertebrae on your pinky? W-H-Y  N-O-T?
